What is The Bad Batch?
Is it a movie?
When is it coming out?
Where can you watch it?
The Bad Batch is an Star Wars animated series that will be available exclusively on Disney+ starting on May 4th!
The first episode will be 70 minutes!
Episodes will release every Friday starting on May 7th and there will be 16 episodes. (UPDATED)
When does The Bad Batch Take Place?
The Bad Batch will follow the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and The Clone Wars and take place after Order 66 and during the reign of the Empire.
Or about 19 BBY if you follow that calendar.
Who are the members of The Bad Batch?
The Bad Batch is a super specialized Clone Force made up of genetically enhanced clones.
Hunter is the sergeant of The Bad Batch. His mutation gives him heightened senses and physical prowess. He can even sense electromagnetic fields which made him invaluable as a “map” that is never wrong. He is a skilled fighter with a knife which he uses with great effect. He has a super awesome face tattoo and reminds me a lot of Billy from the 80’s movie Predator.
Wrecker is genetically engineered to have superhuman strength. In simple term he’s like the Hulk of the team. He has a great sense of humor and enjoys his missions when he can blow up things.
Tech’s mutation is basically super analyst guy. He has understanding of tech and science that makes him better than even a machine along with computing data into unbeatable solutions and tactics!
Battlefront champion sniper guy of the team, Crosshair is all attitude and aim.
Echo is entirely unique. Unlike the rest of Clone Force 99, Echo was not genetically enhanced. He came up through the ranks as a regular clone and eventually joined the elite ARC troopers. On a mission to the Citadel on Lola Sayu he was presumed killed in action. It wasn’t until the Bad Batch found and rescued him on Skako Minor that he returned, although with extensive cybernetic alterations. We still don’t know the full extent of his capabilities but we’ve already seen him be able to hack into the Separatist network.
Where else does The Bad Batch appear?
The Bad Batch make their debut in the first 4 episodes of The Clone Wars season 7.
One of it’s members, Echo, has a bit more of a history. Echo’s story starts way earlier in The Clone Wars chronology than the rest of his team. The chronological order of The Clone Wars does NOT match release order so follow the list carefully to get the story in timeline order! Watch these episodes if you want to get to know Echo!
- 3×01 Clone Cadets
- 1×05 Rookies
- 3×02 ARC Troopers
- 3×18 The Citadel
- 3×19 Counterattack
After that follow up with these episodes that introduce The Bad Batch and have the whole story!
- 7×01 The Bad Batch
- 7×02 A Distant Echo
- 7×03 On the Wings of Keeradaks
- 7×04 Unfinished Business

The Bad Batch Trailer
Back in December, Lucasfilm released this sizzle tease.
… And then BAM!! A second trailer was released!
Are you excited yet? Are you wondering who a few of those familiar faces are?
Who is Going to be in The Bad Batch?
So far in all the released material we’ve spotted a few familiar faces and some new ones! Who are they?
Fresh out of her return to The Mandalorian as Boba Fett’s bestie, a much younger Fennec can be seen in both trailers. She is a notorious assassin so perhaps we can expect to see more of her skills in action! There will also be more to Fennec’s story in The Book of Boba Fett series coming this December!
I don’t think he’s quite a Grand Moff yet, but Tarkin seems to be overseeing some of the training on Kamino. Tarkin also seems to declare war on Clone Force 99 due to their apparent lack of discipline and disobedience. Tarkin has been a part of Star Wars since A New Hope. He has also appeared in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars Rebels, and The Clone Wars in addition to numerous comics and books (One even named after him!)
CT-7567 himself is seen in a couple of shots with The Bad Batch on a mysterious planet of shipwrecked Star Destroyers. He and Echo go way back. Rex is a major character in The Clone Wars series and also appears in Star Wars Rebels and some comics (Including Star Wars Adventures: Clone Ware Battle Tales!)
The original Rebel himself, Saw Gerrera trained with Ahsoka, Captain Rex, Anakin Skywalker, and Obi-Wan Kenobi to lead his rebellion on Onderon against the Separatists during The Clone Wars. We would see Saw again throughout MANY more pieces of Star Wars media like Jedi: Fallen Order, Rebel Rising, Star Wars Rebels, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story! Saw is one of my favorite characters and I can’t wait to see more of this younger Saw and his interactions with The Bad Batch!
The biggest mystery so far is who is this child? The Bad Batch seems to adopt a small child on Kamino named Omega in the subtitles. Is Omega a clone? If so, of whom? The child doesn’t look like Jango. Although the Bad Batch themselves prove that Jango’s DNA can be mutated to look quite different. The Kaminoans are cloners after all, so perhaps they have a new source? The name Omega seems to imply an ending. But of what? The last Jango Clone? Or the last of something else? Is Omega’s fashion some sort of tech or just very stylish?
So many possibilities.
Strap in kid
There still many questions unanswered but looks like we’ll have to wait until May 4th to get some answers!
Where is Crosshair?
What planets will be explored?
Will the Bad Batch be doing any missions?
Do they have inhibitor chips?
AND MOST OF ALL:
