Benjamin Percy has taken the film noir elements of Janix and crafted a thrilling mystery for Lawson to chase down. The story is full of danger, deception, and tension. We get a film noir detective story that sets our characters on a path that leads directly to Maul: Shadow Lord.

Madibek Musabekov‘s art is dark, dangerous, and moody. Janix makes the perfect setting with plenty of stunning imagery. The characters look great, and I love the pulpy art style.

Shadow of Maul is much more than a wonderful lead-in to Maul: Shadow Lord. Lawson fans rejoice because your favorite caf consumer gets plenty of moments here! In fact, all the underworld players on Janix are here. We get to know Nico Deemus a lot better and get some insight into Looti Vario too! I love Janix as a setting, and seeing Lawson in his element lets him shine with that main character energy.

This comic is a must-read for fans looking for a gritty, noir, Captain Brander Lawson story!
