Cavan Scott brings us a new kind of Star Wars in The High Republic: There is No Fear! This series follows Keeve Trennis and the Jedi as they try to reckon with the Drengir threat quickly spreading! The story is INTENSE and thrilling in a way that feels so unlike many other Star Wars comics! The art by Anindito is brilliant. It’s full of detail, energy, and expression which works so well with the characters. I am loving the way the story is fleshing out and Keeve Trennis is such a fascinating character that I can’t wait to see where her story goes!
SPOILERS AHEAD!

Duel
As Keeve tries to focus Sskeer leaps out to attack! Sweet! Jedi ambush training tactics!

Visions
Keeve connects with a swarm of Ridadi Star-locusts to see why their migration has been disrupted!
The art is sooooooooo good.

The Dedication
We witness the Starlight Beacon Dedication Ceremony we’ve already heard about if we read Light of the Jedi, A Test of Courage, and Into the Dark! What makes it extra special here is that it’s a wonderful culmination of Keeve’s trials!
Oh, and the art. We get to see it in all it’s grandeur.

Horror Beyond Imagination
Welcome to your worst nightmare.

Rooted
The Drengir feed on all the meat. And it is NOT pretty. Definitely seems like that poor colony on LV-426 in Aliens.

Trust
I love seeing the way different Jedi train their Padawans. It’s clear confronting fear is the destiny of a Jedi.

Harvester
Oh, the Drengir can also like… possess Jedi.
That’s real bad.

Storytime
On the bright side we see a little bit of the Drengir origin story!

This is the Bad Place
Oh yeah, this is a horror movie.
This is like straight up out of Alien, The Faculty, or The Thing!

New Challenger
Enter the Hutts!
In all their conqueror violent glory!

An Old Friend
Once again, if you follow the other High Republic offerings there are lots of familiar faces!
Vernestra, Imri, Yoda, Avar, and Orbalin among probably plenty more!

For Light and Life
After waiting for the High Republic stuff to launch with baited breath MAN was that worth it! This series focuses on the Drengir threat and brings some scary movie energy to that Star Wars universe! The art up there speaks for itself, the story is super thrilling, and I can’t wait to see where the next arc takes us!
This comic is a must-read for anyone looking for scares in their Star Wars. The Drengir threat is unlike anything we’ve seen the Jedi face and I’m here for it!
What was your favorite moment?

I have to say that the Drengir bursting out of the dead Hutt has had a lasting impression on me, completely unexpected and looks like a much more terrifying version of a chest bursted from ‘Alien’. Also the hero landing of Avar Kriss cutting through The Drengir.
