“You’ll never be the best if you can’t beat me.”
Jecki Lon
Padawans Jecki and Yord have vastly different approaches to life. Jecki loves challenging herself and in physical Jedi skills and leaving thoughts of trials and readiness to her Master. Yord demands perfection and upholding the ideals of the Jedi, but his formality can be socially awkward. When diplomatic relationships with the warrior people of Siline goes awry, Jecki, Yord, and their masters are dispatched to re-establish negotiations. There, they participate in the Crowning Convocation. A challenging trial of survival, to prove the Jedi’s honor and commitment to the Siline. Yord is a bit hesitant… but Jecki is eager for a new challenge.
Leeches! Crowning Convocation! Ericadi hunting! And obstacle courses!

Yorde Horde

Yord Fandar knows he comes off as awkward. He just… doesn’t know how to fix it. He’s a studious Padawan and strives for perfection in all things. From his lightsaber forms to his crisply pressed Jedi tunics, he won’t settle for less. He is particularly nervous about passing his Jedi trials. When the Crowning Convocation challenge arises, he might look like he’s eager to prove himself, but inside, he is nervously worried his skill might be tested further than ever before.
And Yord cannot accept failure.
Jecki Jam

Eager, direct, and bold, Jecki Lon is Jedi Master Sol‘s newest Padawan. She’s a younger Padawan, still wishing for more missions off Coruscant to gain experience and grow her skills. But even within the Jedi temple, Jecki pushes her training as far as she can. Yord tends to get on her nerves. It’s not that she doesn’t like Yord, it’s just that he can be so uptight sometimes. Or all the time. So when she gets a mission off Coruscant (exciting!), along with Yord (annoying!), she has conflicted feelings.
Jecki ultimately decides all of this is a Jedi test she can face head-on.
Catching Fire

The people of Siline have a traditional coming-of-age test of survival called the Crowning Convocation. It consists of three trials.
The Duel. Participants engage in combat against each other.
Survival. Participants survive for many days out in the elements while also possibly sabotaging or fighting each other to be the last survivors.
The Hunt. Participants hunt down big game creatures called Ericadi to prove their prowess.
Although the Convocation is no longer played to the death, it remains extremely dangerous, and death is a possibility. The Convocation lets the young ones compete against one another to prove their strength, cunning, and physical prowess. Participants results can gain them favor for a future in the ruling council of the planet. Jecki and Yord’s participation is an honor and a show of respect. Along the trials, they make allies and adversaries. But deciding who to trust is a trial in its own right.
There is one little thing. For a fair and impartial trial, the Jedi are NOT allowed to use the Force.
Yord is nervous. Jecki is eager.
Bits and Pieces

The Crystal Crown is a gripping, action-packed story of learning and overcoming challenges. Seeing young(er) Jecki and Yord face danger head-on is as exciting as it sounds. Their banter and chemistry is just as fun on the page as it is on the screen. While seeing Master Sol is great, Yord and Jecki really are the focus of this book. It is very interesting to see Sol through Jecki’s eyes, as a teacher and mentor. The entire Crowning Convocation setting is pulse-pounding, and the story is a great character piece with plenty of danger and thrills!
This is a must-read for any Yorde Horde or Jecki Jam member out there ready to see their favorite characters learning some intense lessons!
