Sana Starros: Family Matters Favorite Comic Mini-Series Moments!

After a nonstop whirlwind of lethal danger and achy breaky heartache, Sana Starros heads back home for a family visit. Which apparently is just as dangerous as her adventures with people who aren’t her relatives!

Homecomings! Heartache! In-law Imps! Auntie Deva! And the estranged bro!

Justina Ireland Fills out the Starros bloodline and introduces us to that family tree in a fresh fun fantastic story!

Here are my favorite moments!

SPOILERS AHEAD!

Reunion

Sana heads back home for some much-needed “me time.” I mean, after all the shenanigans being associated with Doctor Aphra entails who can blame her? She runs into Grammy Thea and cousin Aryssha! Aryssha’s got a Starros on the way too!

Pssst….Don’t tell no one how Thea got the nickname “Starfall Starros.”

Way Back When

Sometimes even home has some prickly memories.

Family Lore

Sana learns a bit about her ancestor Avon Starros. And why someone would go through all the trouble of stealing her journal. And why it could be incredibly dangerous for more than just the Starros family name.

But all I could think was “Hey! I know her!!”

Baby Daddy Drama

Hold up. This definitely complicates things. I guess if it was simple it wouldn’t be family right?

Beast Taming

Guess Danny Trejo left out that rancor training tip. Sana has to use a bit of rancor urine for this plan to work.

Ew.

Drop Dead Deva

The Starroses recruit an old family friend who has the family’s back no matter what. And Deva Lompop is always ready for a fight!

We Don’t Talk About It.

Deva is out here starting her own local Fight Club.

Buffet

Deva regains her strength with a hearty meal. Kinda like me in Breath of the Wild but with a lot less fire and a lot more jaw-unhinging.

Well. I guess it’s nothing like Breath of the Wild.

The Miracle of Life

Aryssha isn’t exactly thrilled with circumstances NOT lining up with her birth plan. But seriously, giving birth on an Imperial ship is suboptimal.

O Brother Where Art Thou?

Sana’s brother Phen has chosen a different path. One the family REALLY doesn’t support. I’ll say it again: I guess if it was simple it wouldn’t be family right?

Amirite?

Starroses

Deva knew Sana’s ancestor personally. Deva and Avon go all the way back to The High Republic and Deva imparts a little bit of that distant relationship to Sana.

Teamwork

This story takes family drama to a whole new level. Justina Ireland takes familiar themes and perfectly adds a Star Wars spin. The art by Pere Pérez is beautiful, and expressive, and catches all the emotional moments the writing deserves. Sana is every bit the take-charge no-nonsense character she’s always been but on this journey, she (and we) go back to her roots and dig much deeper into Sana than we ever have. So, thank you for that Justina Ireland. Sana is a character that deserves more stories and now that we know more of her family, I’ll take more stories of them too!

This comic arc is a must-read for Starros fans old and new getting a bigger picture of family ties and the people around us that make us whole.
