The High Republic: Seeds of Starlight and Haunted Starlight Review!

On the planet of Eiram, a string of mysterious disappearances and sightings of legendary sea monsters begin to spread in Barraza City. Young Jedi, Cam Lindon, Kildo, and Tep Tep, investigate! The answers they seek could lie deep beneath the waves in the sunken wreckage of Starlight Beacon. And the seeds they uncover could spread across the entire galaxy!

Fallen Starlight! Padawan adventures! Body snatching! Castoff Nihil! And a hive mind of fear!

Young Jedi Adventures

Cam Lindon is a new Padawan to Jedi Master Eve Byer. Cam has suffered an injury that has left him with a mechanical voice box. He is still getting used to it and is often uncomfortable with his voice. Kildo and Tep Tep are both from Valo and are still younglings without masters. Kildo is confident and brave. Tep Tep is young and eager. They make for an excellent cast, and I love that these stories let the younglings take the main stage. One of the best things about this book is the ingenuity of youth solving problems that confound the adults in charge.

Deepest Bluest

Eiram makes for a complicated location. Because of the disaster and the fall of Starlight Beacon into the ocean, many of the locals blame the Jedi. They fear the trouble the Jedi bring, and in some cases, would rather be left alone. It makes things difficult for the Jedi to offer help where they aren’t wanted. In Haunted Starlight, the Jedi head down to the underwater wreckage of Starlight Beacon in hopes of ending the danger to the people of Eiram. It’s sad to see these young Jedi struggle with the people of this planet who don’t welcome them. But it’s also heartening to see these kids overcome prejudice and make allies out of enemies.

Beach Nihil

We’ve seen many Starlight survivors and how the Republic, Eiram, and the Jedi have helped them in quite a few stories up till now. But this time, we learn what happened to some of the Nihil survivors. Many were abandoned and now have formed a gang called The Hurricanes. In Barraza City, they hide away and steal what they need. When people start disappearing, many blame the ex-Nihil gangs.

Bits and Pieces

George Mann tells a solid two-part story that fills in some of the bigger The High Republic Phase III questions while introducing some fun new characters. The audio presentations are phenomenal as always, with any Star Wars audiobook production. The story focuses on the younger characters: Cam, Kildo, and Tep Tep, and it’s uplifting to see these young Jedi overcome such adversity. The inclusion of the Drengir and the young heroes uncovering the mystery behind their appearance makes for plenty of action, thrills, and suspense! These stories fit together perfectly and make for great listens!

This is a must-read for anyone looking for a story about brave young people uniting to overcome any adversity!
