The High Republic: Into the Light Review!

“Do you not feel the light?”

Azlin Rell

Reath continues to seek a solution to the spreading blight which leaves worlds lifeless in its wake. But when there are reports of the blight on Kashyyyk, homeworld of the noble Wookiees, Reath heads up the mission, hoping to somehow stop it. Burryaga, Kelnacca, Avon Starros, Azlin Rell, and even the crew of The Vessel all join in to help! Little do they know the blight isn’t the only threat heading to Kashyyyk…

Return of the Drengir! A so-called Nihil defector! Double the Wookiee Jedi! And Azlin Rell is on a mission!

SLIGHT SPOILERS AHEAD!

Jedi. Bookworm. Leader.

Reath Silas has come so far since we first met him. All of his knowledge and experience have truly changed this seeker of knowledge. And while the burden on his shoulders is heavy, he continues to push onward in the face of each and every setback. Not only that, he’s become a great leader and example for his friends and peers. But with his mentors, Cohmac Vitus and Azlin Rell joining the mission, Reath might be vulnerable to questionable help…

Need a Ride?

I will scream with joy every single time we return to the crew of The Vessel. Affie Hollow, Leox Gyasi, and Geode consistently bring a smile to my face. They always bring playful energy, hilarious interactions, and plenty of surprises in their storytelling!

Weird Science

As if the blight wasn’t enough of a threat, the diabolical Doctor Mkampa has a deep interest in Kashyyyk and is ready to oppose any Jedi who stand in her way. Fortunately, there’s a genius who just might be able to stop her. Little Avon Starros is a brilliant scientist in her own right and might just be the key to foiling the evil Doctor’s plans.

Bits and Pieces

Claudia Gray brings another solid story to Star Wars storytelling. Her understanding of characters is truly a highlight, and this one is no different. Reath has definitely been a standout in recent storytelling, and Gray gives us a great look at how far he’s come. In the grand tapestry of The High Republic this story ties off a few important threads but does not feel like a resolution in any way. It’s clear there is still much to be done and that some of these characters still have plenty more to do. The characters are definitely the highlight of this book!

This is a must-read for The High Republic fans who are fond of the young Reath Silas who headed to the Amaxine station looking to see just how far one person can go!
