You want a nice, fancy book for your collection, and you really love it when Sith plans come together.
Well, I have great news for you.
The Revenge of the Sith: Episode III: Deluxe Edition is here, and it is a thing of beauty!
The story of Anakin Skywalker’s fall from grace has just hit its 20th anniversary, and the tale stands just as strong ever. Now I’m not usually a collector of film novelizations because, in general, they don’t have much new insight. There are exceptions, of course, particularly since The Last Jedi and the move to Expanded Editions that have additional scenes not in the films. But this retelling is something entirely different. Matthew Stover leans into the mythic nature of this end of the age of heroes, and it definitely makes for a unique take on a familiar story. The storytelling is exciting, engaging, and epic in every sense, and I loved experiencing this story through such an introspective lens.
Not only that, but this edition has over 170 annotations and a brand new introduction by Matthew Stover. It gives insight into the creation of this book, and looking back on it 20 years later! The story feels timeless, but some of these annotations really take you back to where we were when we first learned the story of Anakin’s fall.
All of that seems awesome enough, but it’s not just the inside of the book that’s awesome.
- There’s a removable acetate jacket with a foil-stamped Vader silhouette.
- Wraparound cover art of Mustafar under the jacket.
- Red foil edges with an iconic quote.
- A satin ribbon bookmark.
- Illustrated front and back inside covers.
This is definitely the most gorgeous thing on my shelf, and it’s by far. I’ve included photos and videos in this review, but they honestly don’t do justice to holding this book in your hands. So whether you are a longtime fan of this book or want to experience it for the first time, this would make a fine addition to your collection!
Revenge of the Sith is a beautiful work of art, and so is this book.
